Playful Wood Type

For my MFA Thesis, I was exploring different ways I could combine English and Arabic together. Since both languages read in different directions, I designed the letters back to back and created it out of wood. When you put the Latin letters together to make the word “talk” you look at it from the other side and it would spell out the Arabic equivalent تكلم. This was intended to be a fun teaching tool. Because they are back to back, when assembled, both are going in the right direction in terms of legibility when you read them.
